We asked and you answered!
We love women at FRÉ; we love their strength, resilience, and beauty. So we wanted to ask you, our faithful FRÉnds, what women in history inspire you? The results were moving. Without further ado, the three women to top our list are:
Drew Barrymore
Occupation: Actress, producer, director, author, model, and entrepreneur
Why she inspires us: She proves that anyone can persevere through even the darkest of times and come out on top. Drew shows us that with good people in your life and a vision for the future, all you have to do is pull yourself out of whatever hole you’re in (her hole was a troubled childhood filled with drugs and alcohol abuse) and keep on the path you set for yourself.
Billie Jean King
Occupation: World No. 1 professional tennis player in 1967
Why she inspires us: At FRÉ, we love nothing more than a woman who sweats. After all, we curated our skincare line for these exact women. But Billie Jean is so much more than a sweaty tennis player. She is a huge advocate for gender equality and won “The Battle of the Sexes” tennis match, proving that anything is possible if you work hard enough towards your goals.
J.K. Rowling
Occupation: a British novelist, philanthropist, film and television producer, and screenwriter
Why she inspires us: Joanne Rowling shows us that following your passions, even if just for a few minutes a day, or in the most desperate of circumstances, will always pay off. She reminds us that taking small steps will also get you where you want to go and to never stop dreaming. Everyone has their purpose in life, and sometimes it takes a little longer to find it, but that doesn’t make it any less important.
There you have it, three different women, on three very different paths, from three extremely distinct lifestyle backgrounds, who all show us the strength of a woman when she puts her mind towards her goals. We all have our own demons, battles, and struggles to overcome, but through patience, perseverance, and determination, we can come out on top. We believe in our women, and you should believe in yourselves too!

Ruth Bader Ginsburg
“There is one woman who never fails to inspire me through her story, her voice, and her actions. Ruth Bader Ginsburg (RBG) is an American Icon, and an American Hero. As a woman, it is easy to feel less than men, to feel as if you know less than men. But, the notorious RBG changed that. She changed the way women are seen and heard, by fighting for gender equality, while raising her young daughter and caring for her sick husband. When Ginsburg was appointed to the US Court of Appeals, by President Jimmy Carter in 1980 and later to the supreme court by Bill Clinton in 1993, she consistently used her power to fight for gender equality, for both women and men. In addition to her fight for equality, she works towards the liberation of men and women. She wants both men and women to benefit from the changes put in place by society. What is so inspirational to me about RBG is the length of her fight, which has been going on for decades. RBG is a hero to me and I love watching her make history.” ~Marlena, FRÉ Campus Ambassador
