My fitness journey
I've always been a fitness junkie. I taught group fitness (turbo kick + piyo) for 6 years until my first son was one month old. I still enjoy group fitness, but, now, I just work out at home. Life is busy as a business owner and a mom of two, so I'm grateful for my at home workouts!
Fitness after birth
Having a HEALTHY mindset is key to loving your postpartum body. During both of my pregnancies, I worked out, ate fairly well, and embraced the changes my body was making. After my boys were born, I truly challenged myself, and, through these postpartum journeys, I really FOUND myself. It's almost as if I appreciate my body THAT much more, not only for giving two little boys LIFE, but I also appreciate what it is capable of doing—before/during/after birth.
My tips for living a healthy lifestyle
Living a healthy lifestyle should be fun, but people must remember to be accountable for their actions. Find a work out routine that you ENJOY and keep at it. Find a nutrition plan and STICK to it. I teach my clients to focus on the proper portions and making sure to eat ENOUGH. So many of us are so busy that we often forget to eat, and that's just as bad as overeating. In addition, having a support system is essential to reaching your goals.
When it comes to exercise, I always recommend a routine that my clients will ENJOY. I want them to find something they love and stick with it. If someone HATES running, I'm not going to tell them to run 2 miles a day. I work with them based on their goals to determine the best program. For me, it's at home fitness, because the workouts change and it prevents my team and me from plateauing.
Life as a coach
I have been a virtual health coach for 6 years. I absolutely LOVE what I do, because I truly get to make an impact. I am blessed to be able to work from home with my husband; we work together to run our team and help our clients. Best of all, we also are able to be with our two boys every single day. It is the biggest blessing and one of my biggest reasons for working hard. I coach clients on their physical, emotional, and mental health as well as mentor my team of virtual health coaches. I teach these coaches how to run and build a business alongside mine. My job is AMAZING.
Plagiocephaly
My younger son, Wiley, has plagiocephaly, which is a disorder where an infant’s soft skull becomes flattened in an area. I tell myself that every phase is JUST a phase; this too shall pass. The hard times come and they go. I lean on my community for support, find inspiration daily, and workout for ME. Exercise is my stress reliever and I do it for ME. This is my second time being a mom, so I know that I do in fact know how to raise a human (haha!), and I will make it through. My husband is my rock, and I also lean on my family too. They are the best.
My German Shepherd (my third child)
I have a 4 year old German Shepherd named Maximus Hilites. He was our first baby (I'm destined to be a mother of boys), and we brought him home when he was 7 weeks old. We did basic puppy training with him as well as a summer filled with agility training with his breeder and other German Shepherd dogs. His Dad is super high drive, so Max requires direction and a good amount of exercise. He is the perfect dog; he is part of our family and is super protective over his little brothers.
