We are excited to launch our 100% organic, natural, cold-pressed argan oil this July. All the oil we use is harvested from women’s cooperatives in Morocco. Argan has always been the ingredient at the heart of our products and now we are excited to offer it to you in its purest form. It’s a versatile skin (and hair) product with truly magical properties that is perfect for an active lifestyle.
Origins of argan
Argan oil comes from the Argania Spinosa, commonly known as argan and sometimes as the “Tree of Life”, a desert tree found in South West Morocco. Despite the arid and unforgiving conditions of the desert, the argan tree can survive for up to 250 years. No plant weathers the harsh desert climate better.
For centuries the Amazigh people of Morocco have used Argan to treat ailments like heart disease, rheumatism and have applied it directly to dry skin and hair. Modern botanical science shows that Argan has a rich proportion of potent antioxidants and fatty acids and is one of the world’s most nourishing natural skincare ingredients. By bringing the power of the resilient desert tree to skincare, argan creates resilient skin.
A powerful combination of fatty acids and antioxidants
Our research in partnership with Dr. Sharon Rozenblat, botanical dermatology expert, and The Dead Sea Arava Science Center shows that argan is even more powerful than chemical ingredients when it comes to anti-inflammation, anti-oxidation, and repairing and preventing UV damage.
Argan oil contains carotenoids, polyphenols, vitamin E, ferulic acid, and squalene enriched with flavonoids. The combination of antioxidants helps reduce the effects of aging. In addition, essential fatty acids moisturize the skin, and sterols keep skin firm by retaining moisture. Formulas based on argan can help shield skin from exercise and sweat related damage while also helping to repair existing skin damage. Argan can work wonders by helping to fight free radicals, preventing dark spots, improving skin elasticity, and reducing the signs of aging.
Argan for face
First and foremost argan is a deeply nourishing moisturizer that is excellent for all skin types. It deeply replenishes dry skin, balances out combination and oily skin, and is gentle enough for sensitive skin. Although it’s an oil, it has anti-sebum properties, which means it can help prevent acne, so you can stop breaking out from your workouts. It can be incorporated into your skincare routine either before your moisturizer, mixed together with moisturizer or serum, or on its own. You can also apply a drop to chapped lips for an instant hit of hydration.
Argan for body
Argan can be used on any part of the body, and is particularly powerful for those especially dry areas like elbows, knees and over washed hands. It’s wonderful for pregnant and postpartum skin as it can help to remove stretch marks. Finally if you are suffering from skin conditions like eczema or rosacea, many people have reported a marked improvement with daily application of argan oil.
Argan for hair
Argan works wonders for hair. You can apply a few drops to slightly damp hair and brush through for a hit of moisture. You can smooth in a small amount to dry hair to dramatically reduce frizz. The Vitamin E found in argan promotes the healthy growth of hair and can help hydrate and soften your tresses. It can restore shine and body to even the dullest hair and leave you glowing.
