When you exercise and break a good sweat, your body produces endorphins, a feel-good hormone that makes you feel energized and pumped-up for the day. So, it can be a drag when exercising leads to skin irritation, breakouts, dryness, and other persistent issues.
When you sweat, your skin loses moisture and hydration. It also becomes depleted of essential vitamins and minerals. It’s critically important not only to rehydrate by drinking water and replenishing electrolytes through food, but also to use the right skincare products that will rehydrate your skin and restore essential nutrients needed to keep your skin youthful and glowing.
When sweat dries on the skin, you also run the risk of trapping in dirt and impurities, which can clog pores and cause blemishes and redness. Oftentimes, sweat cannot evaporate due to makeup or tight fitting clothing, which further exacerbates skin issues.
One common post-workout complaint is sweat pimples, which occur when bacteria gets caught just under the skin’s surface. Together with the warm environment of a sweaty body, this bacteria thrives and turns into small red bumps.
To maintain a healthy, glowing complexion and avoid sweat-induced skin irritations and breakouts, it’s important to have a good post-workout routine.
