2,000 Trees Planted, Thanks to the FRÉ Community

On January 15^th, just one year after launch, we were proud to plant 2000 Argan Trees of Life in Essaouira, Morocco, in partnership with the High Atlas Foundation (HAF). We are working with HAF to fulfill their mission of catalyzing economic growth and endorsing grassroots development in disadvantaged communities throughout Morocco. The tree-planting ceremony called “Planting the Seeds of Life” took place together with the Essaouira Argan Women’s cooperative who will benefit from the planting, FRÉ Ambassador Talia Sutra from Tel Aviv, Israel, the HAF team and FRÉ’s co-founder, Mickael Bensadoun.

One Set, One Tree

FRÉ was established a year ago, and at our core is our ethos of giving back. Our skincare is based on a unique formula of Argan oil, Argan leaf water and Argan stem cells, and our philosophy is based on supporting the women’s cooperatives that harvest Argan oil and have made the FRÉ dream a reality. So, to give back and celebrate the power of Argan, we launched the ‘One Set, One Tree’ program: for every 123FRÉ set sold, FRÉ plants an Argan Tree of Life to help replenish the endangered Argan forest and support women who harvest Argan oil in Morocco. Thanks to you, we reached our goal of planting 2,000 Argan trees this month.

Empowering Women, Creating a Greener Morocco

The planting of 2,000 trees will assist in the organic certification and sale of products in local and international markets. Ultimately this represents a huge change for the women’s cooperatives: instead of processing other people’s produce for an excruciatingly low salary, they will now be able to cultivate, process, sell, and receive all the profits from their own Argan trees.

HAF and FRÉ are also teaming up in order to expand environmental education and preservation together with women’s and youth groups. Environmental preservation is a cornerstone for both FRÉ and HAF. Our partnership with HAF has allowed us to plant trees at public schools, encouraging students to become empowered environmental stewards, and to make Morocco a greener place.

Although you weren't there in person, you were with us in spirit for this magical event. Thanks to your support of FRÉ we were able to plant Argan Trees of Life. We would like to thank you for this blessing. Every tree planted represents a 123FRÉ set sold, and the support of a community of fitness gurus, trainers and incredible women who have worked with us and believed in us for the past year. Thanks to you we can continue to build our dream of creating multi-layered impact. Together we are providing:

• New sources of income to the women who harvest Argan oil.
• The ability for women in Morocco’s cooperatives to financially support their communities and families, and provide a better education for their children.
• Essential educational and management tools through special training to strengthen their cooperative.
• Strong female role models and inspiration for young Moroccan girls to be independent and active.
• A huge impact on the environment, helping fight global warming and Argan deforestation.

For all of this, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts! Next year, with your continued support of FRÉ, we will be back in Morocco planting even more Argan Trees of Life.
